Olivia Rose

Olivia Rose is a New York artist whose work spans landscape, sculpture, design, and participatory experience. Born and raised in Manhattan, educated at LaGuardia High School, and trained in Landscape Architecture at Cornell University, she draws from New York City's plants, public spaces, objects, fashion, and street life.

Plants have remained a central material in Rose's work, appearing in sculpture, installations, editorial projects, set design, and public programs. In 2021, she created an immersive greenhouse installation at Elizabeth Street Garden for Belvedere, bringing together living material, sculpture, and the architecture of the garden.

Through Original Rose, the studio she founded after Bodega Rose, Rose works across sculpture, installations, customization, workshops, public programs, and commissioned projects. She develops projects from concept through production, often combining fabrication, craft, plants, and familiar objects.

Her projects have included sculptural basketball and sneaker planters, botanical installations, live customization, set design, public walks, and commissioned work for brands including Nike, Levi's, Timberland, UGG, The North Face, Autodesk, Spalding, and others.

Rose first became known through Bodega Rose, where she reworked familiar objects as vessels for living plants. Basketballs, sneakers, luxury bags, coffee cups, and other recognizable forms were cast, molded, and turned into sculptural planters and functional objects. The work brought together horticulture, fashion, sport, craft, and the everyday visual culture of New York.

New York is also a recurring subject in her work. Rose looks closely at the city's parks, streets, markets, objects, and overlooked histories. Her short film New York Flower Stories — Milton documented the city's historic flower district and the people who worked there. More recently, her public walks have used trees, plants, monuments, and landscape as a way to tell the history of New York neighborhoods.

Rose's work has been featured in The New York Times, Vogue, Forbes, Hypebeast, i-D, Hypebae, and Architectural Digest. She lives and works in New York City.
