A series of workshops developed in conjunction with Nike’s 50th anniversary, centered on sneaker casting as a material exercise and historical reference. The sessions took place at Nike’s flagship store and drew from Bill Bowerman’s original approach to footwear experimentation, particularly his use of unconventional tools and casting methods in the development of the waffle sole.

Participants were guided through the process of creating sneaker-based cast objects, using mold-making and casting as a way to examine form, function, and iteration. The workshops framed sneakers not as finished products, but as starting points for material exploration—connecting Nike’s origins in experimentation to contemporary making practices.

In parallel with the workshops, three cast pieces were produced and displayed on site, marking the anniversary through object-based work and process-driven display.
